So I started SB phase 1 last Sunday so I'm a week and part of a day into it and I'm feeling great! Not many cravings or hunger...I have to say that I am pretty proud of myself for sticking with it 100% for a whole week so far. I know a week is not much but that first week is the hardest. The first 4 or 5 days were tough and now its not really. And now, I *know* I will stick with it from here on out. I am so determined to get this yucky weight off at this point. Not only that but I just feel so much better, clearer thinking and way more energy. That was a big issue I was having before, I had basically no motivation to do ANYTHING at all. Well the other day I finally got up the energy to tackle some projects on the house, since we really want to sell and get a bigger house, but I had been putting off the things that needed to be done to do that. And now I feel like I'm just on a roll with getting things done and with losing weight and eating and feeling better.
I am not weighing myself...I know I should, but its just so depressing for me. I haven't weighed myself since my 6 week post partum appt. over a year and a half ago and I just don't want to face those numbers yet. I decided I will weigh myself when I can get back into my pre pregnancy clothing which would be a size 12. I'm sort of between a 16 and a 14 right now but more a 16 due to lots of belly skin and fat that cuts into it. My 16s are loose on me everywhere else except right around my stomach. The 14's fit me well everywhere else but give me major muffin top. But anyway, what I am doing is taking my measurements. I took them last Sunday and again today. I'm sure there is a margin of error due to maybe not taking the measurements in exactly the same spots etc. but according to my measurements, I've lost an inch around my waist (but nothing around my belly button/tummy area where all my extra skin and fat is lol) 1/2 inch on my ribs and a 1/2 inch around my neck, and 1/2 inch around my upper arms. Nothing off my thighs, hips, butt etc. yet though but those are stubborn areas, and of course its only been a week, so I think I'm pretty happy with those 2 inches or so. I have no idea what that translates to in pounds.
OK now for the bad news, my DH. He has been great and really following this with me. He has the hardest time losing weight. He really (even before the diet) does not eat like a typical man, he eats much less and I'd say healthier in general. he goes to the gym at work a few times a week and does the treadmill for about 45 minutes. Yet, he has always been heavy. He is 6', 255 lbs. right now, and he has high blood pressure and high trigylcerides and cholesterol! He is on 4 different medications for that stuff. I really want him to lose weight to help that stuff but it is just not easy for him to lose. He does weigh himself and has weighed himself on our nice digital scale that measures to the exact # and measures body fat etc. Well he weighed 255 exactly last Sunday and weighs 255 exactly today, WITH exercising and eating perfectly (same stuff that I am). And his measurements are the same. Even as a kid he was heavy/husky, just always has been. His brothers are SKINNY and they eat a TON. I don't really understand where all these health issues are coming from with him really, and why his weight is not budging. The only time in the 8 years we've been married that he has lost weight was when we had a trainer and worked out 2 hours 4 days a week and took long walks etc. on the days that we didn't go to the gym--and ate very lightly etc. He lost about 20 pounds in 5 months. I only lost 7 lol...but I gained a lot of muscle and he was doing more cardio. I'm thinking of seeing if he can get his thyroid checked out and see if that is messing with things too. But if anyone has any words of wisdom... I know its only been a week but it *is* discouraging.

That is very unusual for a guy who's doing everything right.
yeah I asked him if he has been eating the stuff I pack for him and NOTHING else and he said he swears he is...so I dunno...
Hi Morgan,
I recommend that he see his doctor to not only get his thyroid checked, but to have a good overall checkup and talk to his doctor about weight loss.
Thank you Maggie
I know its a lifestyle and its only been one week, so we are trying to be relaxed about it so far, it is mostly past history that has us frustrated.
His next appointment I believe is in 3 weeks from now so I will make that journal up from what I've written in my journal over the past week and then add to it and the exercise so that the dr can see it.
