one year on phase 1

If anyone can tell me...first of all I have been on SB for 1 year now and have lost 91 lbs...I know they advise not to stay on Phase 1 no more than the 2 week...my questions is:  if your only suppose to stay on SB for 14 days which I followed the 14 day Phase 1 to the tee, no exceptions! why is there so many recipes for Phase 1 if they give you the actual Phase in the original book, if I am right, I'm thinking that you can substitute other Phase 1 recipes for the ones in the original book, it's so confusing with all these Phase 1 recipes out there when your only suppose to be on it for 14 days...Please Help!...Thank you

I agree with Cathy.

Also, on some days I will use up all my grain servings during the day so I will have a completely phase 1 meal at dinner time. Or, I might have a phase 1 breakfast and then have fruits and grains throughout the day. It's the flexibility of this diet that makes it work for so many!

You've done great so far....continued good luck and good health!

Karezz,
have you really been on Phase 1 for a year?

No. I have been following SB for over 4 years. I was just trying to emphasize the point that even if you are on Phase 2 or 3, some of your meals may, in fact, be "phase 1" meals.

There are a lot other times to fit in your fruits and grains other than "meals" - we often have a "phase 1" dinner because we have eaten fruit and grain servings at other times throughout the day - breakfast, lunch, snacks, desert, etc. Also just because a recipe is phase 1 doesn't mean you can't add a phase 2 side with it like rice or a whole wheat roll. I think by having versitile recipes like this, people get "more bang for their buck" out of the book. You also do not ever have to stick with the exact recipes/meals from the book, even for phase 1. I didn't use their daily menus/recipes, I used recipes from here or personal recipes that I adapted, even in phase 1.

Congrats on losing 91lbs, that is awesome! If you have actually been on phase 1 for a year, I would highly recommend doing some research on moving to phase 2 and how beneficial it is for both your health and weight loss. I only stayed on phase 1 for exactly 14 days, not a minute longer. I lost 67lbs and have maintained for 2 years. I eat at least three servings each of fruits and grains every day and did throughout my entire weight loss.
