Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I've finally decided to take the plunge to the beach. I've always eaten similar to the SBD principals in the past, but was never much of a veggie fan, so never wanted to really do the SBD. I lost a lot of weight 2 years ago after my DD was born, but gained it all back because of unhealthy eating habits and just a NEED for junk and I am having a very hard time getting back on track. I started Phase 1 on Tuesday, and did good except for dinner out with my DH last night--it was at a churrascaria (a Brazilian steakhouse) so I overate, but all in all I stuck with veggies from the buffet and mostly ate the leaner meats. I am actually discovering that I like more veggies than I thought, which is great.
I have about 100 pounds to lose, and I know it's going to take a while, but I'm hoping that I can really make the lifestyle switch and that my DH will get with the program, too. We leave for vacation and a cruise next Wednesday, and I have no illusions about sticking strictly with any of the phases of the diet, but I do plan on focusing on eating more sensible portions and choosing healthier options. I'm not sure why I chose to start Phase 1 before the cruise, it just seemed like a good idea, so here I am :). I'll probably do 5-7 days of Phase 1 after we get back, then move on to Phase 2, depending on my cravings.
Well, that's about it for now. Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm looking forward to being a part of the board!

Hi Staci,
Welcome!
Hi, and welcome to the board!
Welcome!
I've been doing SBD for 1 1/2 months now and I'll tell ya, there is hope. I don't even want things like breads or pasta or potatoes anymore. You will get to this place too!
I also think that it is great that you are starting before you go on the cruise. It may not be as difficult to eat by the SBD as you think! Maybe you could ask for diabetic meals? Most places have some sort of lower carb menu too.
I would suggest that when you're on vacation, just take one day at a time. Most of us took months or years to gain the weight, not just a few weeks. Enjoy yourself and eat healthy whenever you can.
Best wishes!
E.
Welcome aboard, Staci!!! I think most of us like cruising around here...I know I do!!! DH & I have been on 2 cruises since starting SB and it's actually pretty easy to do. Like you said, pick healthier options and watch portion sizes.
I started SB in January, 2007 with about 90 pounds to lose. 49 of those pounds are gone and I'm hoping to make a serious dent with what's left to lose in 2008.
So when you get back from your cruise, pull up your beach chair and join us!!! We're very happy that you're here!!!
