Day 5 on Phase 1 with Type 2 Diabetes

I think this is the part when staying on Phase one begin to get a little tougher. For me its not about what food I am able to eat or need to avoid as much as it is feeling a bit hungry after snacks and between meals. I know I can eat Jello and that is a free for me. The difficulty for me is that I have to test 2 hours after a meal and so I have to avoid eating until that two hours is up. Today I am going to test before lunch and I have had a cheese stick for a snack, and some Jello. I still feel hungry and have another hour to go. I know I will make it because I am determined to do so. I also know only 2 more days and I am half way through. I am keeping sight of the my larger goals of health and weight loss.
On a positive note, even with high triglycerides my blood pressure is was measured at 122 over 78. I also tested my glucose at 122 this morning so I feel like I am on my way of winning the battle with this Diabetes diagnosis. The Doc said today if I can test consistently at 130 or under every morning, he will be happy. As far as testing in the morning goes, I have been waiting an hour or so before I tested. Today I tested as soon as I woke up, so I am wondering if my numbers will be lower if I test immediately upon awakening.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Jason

Hi Jason,
The foods that keep us fuller for longer are protiens and fats.
Add more at snack time.
Any particular brand of soups you suggest or does it have to be home made? I am concerned that I am going to go over the allowed amount of nuts because I do like them so much. Yesterday, it seemed like I just could not get enough so I had to really use some strong self control. I am even eating the ricotta cheese, although I know a lot of people do not like it.
Like others, I do have many days when I have difficulty sleeping at night and that is really the hardest times I think anyone faces. Combining Phase One and the attempt to quit smoking at the same time can really get to you sometime.
Ok, I read about portion control on another South Beach chat board. For me, portion control is important, so I am starting to practice the 20min rule between my first serving at dinner and second. I think this is my biggest problem even when I was previously on the South Beach and then in Phase 2.
Jason
Jason,
I congratulate you for giving up smoking at the same time.
