Plain FF yogurt rave - Oikos

Hi! I'm on day three of Phase 1 this time around after having a baby and neglecting my weight for a couple of years. I've had much success with SB previously and have gotten lots of good info and support here on this board back in 2004. :)

In any case, I tried a new yogurt today. It's a greek yogurt called Oikos. It's made by Stonyfield Farm, it's fat free and above all absolutely fabulous! I've never had a fat free yogurt that creamy. I added some natural PB to it and I was in total heaven. Just wanted to share. :)

Thanks for the great review! I've been meaning to try this brand as it is less expensive than (and I think similar to) Fage.

I've tried Fage in the past and did not like it. I have another one in the fridge right now as I bought one of each this weekend to try and to compare so I know what to buy more of next time. I'll give Fage another try tomorrow and post a comparison. :)

I did try Fage the next day for comparison and while I did like it better than the standard plain ff yogurt, it was not as creamy as Oikos and had a more sour taste to it. So Oikos it is for me! :)

Are there any other Greek yogurts brands that are legal??? I tried Fage and I loved it with peanut butter and some Splenda. But I can only find that at Whole Foods and I only go over there once every couple of months. I'm excited about this Oikos yogurt and I'm going to look for it. Hopefully, my local grocery store will carry it, but I haven't seen it so far.

I have only seen Oikos at Whole Foods and some independent stores.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's, Jamie. Looks like the closest one to me would be Atlanta. As much as I'd like to go, that's almost a 4 hour drive for me!!! I was ecstatic that we finally got a Whole Foods..and that one is about 45 minutes away. I guess I live in the sticks...LOL!!!

My Publix had a big tub or two of Fage 0% a few weeks ago. It was gone earlier in the week. I never know if they will re-stock items like that or not. Maybe it went out of date and they removed it. I've been telling them lately that they have expired yogurts in the dairy case. It took them about 3 weeks to remove some of them........
