Tuesday, December 4

CW:  168.5

November was not good to me in terms of the scale or the gym, and I have no one but me to blame it on.  I decided to be in a funk over my stupid knee and haven’t quite gotten over it.  My eating habits took a nosedive and it finally started to show up on the scale after Thanksgiving.  Well, it’s a new month and time for a new commitment to a healthy me.

My "new month's" resolutions for December:

  • eat more veggies.  I’ve had big homemade salads the last three days and they have been really wonderful!
  • eat less cheese.  This has always been a weakness for me and I want to cut it down to at most two ounces a day.
  • drink more water.  I’ve been doing OK with that but it is something I struggle with when it's cold.  I drink at least a liter of herbal tea every day, though!
  • start exercising again.  This is a big key for me with my turtle’s metabolism, and I have no excuse not to do it now that the semester is winding down (two more weeks, whooo hooo!!!)... well, I did try to sign up for a Zumba class, but it was cancelled because of low registration.  Still, it's not like anyone can exercise for me.

Today was better than most Tuesdays --- I brought some lunch for a change so I wasn’t starving at 4 pm and making lots of bad choices.  However, we’re pretty much out of food again so I didn’t get all my requirements.  Didn't I just go to the store??!?

Breakfast:  spicy v8; oatmeal (1/4 c uncooked) with a little cinnamon, sf maple syrup, Splenda and ff milk

20 minutes after breakfast:  sf gingerbread nf latte

Lunch:  chicken breast with roasted garlic pan sauce (leftovers from last night’s dinner) and a small banana.  Diet Dr Pepper.  Need more veggies at lunchtime!  Plus garlic and bananas are not the best combination.

Snack:  the other ¼ c of oatmeal from this morning.  I am out of fruit, and tried nuking some frozen raw cranberries with Splenda and a little water until they were broken down, and adding that to my oatmeal.  OMG, that was sooo good!  It also had sf maple syrup, a little more Splenda and ff milk in it.  (I liked this so much I made more cranberries for tomorrow’s breakfast.)

Dinner:  half of another leftover chicken breast with roasted garlic pan sauce; humongous salad (at least four cups of veggies)

Dessert:  Kashi pumpkin spice bar

Exercise:  none

So, a little short on grains and maybe half a serving short on fruit.  I could have drunk more water:  my goal is 2L a day and I probably had 1.5.  OK with veggies and I squeaked by with two servings of dairy, I think.  But only half an ounce of cheese (rf feta on the salad) --- that is huge for me!

Joy, I made baked oatmeal once and didn't really like it very much.

Love your chart Deb!!! You are just about at the weight right now that I want to be...someday!!! And can I say that I'm so happy that you're back??? I missed you terribly!!!
Where would we be without our Dr Deb!!!

Congrats on the papers!!! I don't pretend to understand all of that, but it sounds like a very big deal and I'm so happy for you!!!
