OK, confession time.  After my meltdown at the MIL's in December, I fell completely off the wagon.  I was home for a few days after our visit there.  Then I went to New Orleans, which has IMO the best food in the world, then to work in Florida for a week.  I just got home last night and weighed myself this morning for the first time in weeks and I am up SIX POUNDS!!!  I'm sure some of this is just water weight and will come off quickly, but holy crap!

Funny how even the best of diets don't work if you don't actually follow them  ;)

So, I'm back on the wagon as of today.  Just this morning I joined a new gym that has a huge variety of group fitness classes, so I don't have the excuse of my knee acting up AND I don't have the excuse of being too intimidated to work out with all the hardbodied 20-year-olds on campus.  I'm going to try my first class tonight!

Welcome back Deb!

Two things though -
6 pounds is rough, but my friend got married a few months ago and gained EIGHT pounds on her weeklong honeymoon. I guess that's what all-inclusive does to you! See? It could be worse!
Also, if you still don't like spin that doesn't mean you shouldn't try out the other classes! Personally, I did not like spin at all, and we all know how I feel about the other gym classes. ;) But I hope you do like it. I'm in envy of those who can put themselves through 60 minutes of butt pain and pedal at the same time!

Katy,

Weirdly, I'm not as freaked about that 6 pounds as I thought I would be.

Karen,

I thought it was OK, but I think if I stick with it for 3 or 4 more times I will like it a lot.

Cathy,

I was actually shocked about the cheese.

I tried a spin class and could only get thru 30 of the 60 minutes. I tried to take it easy, but even then it was very challenging. Plus, at my gym they like to keep it "hot" in the spin room. The attendees are even bundled up pretty well in order to sweat more. Ew!

I am trying to increase my cardio endurance and they have just added a beginners spin class, so maybe there is hope for me.

I like the tip about the gel seat; I happen to already have one on my bike that I'll try to bring along the next time.

I'm glad you liked it.
