Nata's Phase 1 Journal / Start: 3 Feb 08

Today is my official start on SB. I have tried a bit of it last week (couldn't wait) and it felt really fantastic! I celebrated my birthday yesterday with a wonderful cake and wine and now starting Phase 1.
My start weight is 137 lbs and my goal weight is 119 lbs, so I need to lose 18 lbs.
I have never been too big, have always been normal at school, then I moved from my parents and gained weight (restaurant food and lack of cooking experience) so I got to my maximum weight (146 lbs) then. After that I moved in with my boyfriend and he loves to cook and always makes healthy food, so my weight went down and stayed at 128 lbs for a long time. Then I quit smoking and gained weight (ate too much chocolate) to my current weight. It's already around 3 years I have been 137 lbs and I am tired of that!
I have never really dieted and have always eaten healthy enough but would eat too much of it and eat cookies or chips sometimes. I don't like sweet food, but I need to stop my overeating habit.
So today is my first day on phase 1, in this journal I will write down what I have been eating and weight myself every week (or maybe every second week - will see how it feels).

Thank you, Cathy :) I have been reading this board for some time and have got both inspiration and more knowledge about SB. I haven't read the book so I will definitely need advice and more information about it.
P.S. I come from Belarus and English is not my native language, so please excuse my mistakes :)

Good luck to you! This is a great way of eating. I have to quit smoking on the 6th so I am afraid of gaining weight as well!

Good luck with that! I advise you to read a book of Allen Carr about quitting smoking - it has helped really many people!! When I quit then it was my choice to eat instead of smoke, because I thought it was healthier. :)

Day 1:

Breakfast: missed (I usually eat breakfast but I woke up at lunchtime today :))

A.M. Snack: missed

Lunch: cottage cheese 4% with fresh dill and tomato

P.M. Snack: peanuts (20)

Dinner: chicken filet with champignon and pascal celery stalks with squash.
Mmmmmmm, it tasted fantastic and my husband was very impressed by my cooking too :)

Hey! Thank you very much for the 4% correction - I was aware of that and that's why I have bought a 2% cottage cheese today. I live in Denmark and mozarella and some other cheeses here can be found at 6% fat (is it allowed with 6%?).
I didn't mention in my previous message that I drink 0,1% milk.
I love vegetables and eat lots of them all the time! :)

Regarding packaged cheese, look at the nutrition label.

I guess I am a bit confused :) I think in grams, so it's 6 grams fat per 100 g. Then if it's 6 grams fat per ounce, then it's about 20 grams fat per 100 g. :))) But what about my cottage cheese? In the "getting started" thread it says: 1-2%. 1-2% of what? :S
