Amy's March Journal

Ooops!  When I journaled yesterday, I completely forgot it was March 1st.  Oh well!

Here's what I know about today:

Exercise: Not much.  I'm still babying my shoulder and neck.  Per Cathy's suggestion, I got some of the pain-reliever patches and they have been helping a little.  I really think something's out place, as it doesn't really feel like a muscle pull.  To look at me, my right shoulder is raised about 2-3 inches more than my left (this makes even walking difficult).  My chiropractor should be able to fix me right up -- but he's out of town until Wednesday...  In the meantime, I'm going to have to find some other form of exercise.  I don't want to get out of my workout "groove" -- it's too hard to get back into when I miss more than 2 days at a time.

Breakfast: a Lifestream (whole wheat) Omega 1000 flaxseed waffle w/ natural PB and banana, 2 slices of turkey bacon, and a glass of skim milk.  2 cups of decaf w/ FF HH and S&L

Snack: none

Lunch: a leftover Baked Chicken Chimichanga, salad

Snack: apple and RF cheese stick

Dinner: Balsamic-glazed salmon, roasted vegetables (brocolli, mushrooms, peppers, onions, carrots), 1/2 of a sweet potato w/ Smart Balance Light; glass of skim milk

Dessert/snack: Ricotta Creme  Update: also had a SF FF popsicle  (I know this probably put me over my sweet treat calories for the day, but I was really hot - LOL - we had a fire in the fireplace last night and I was sweltering!)

Great news on the neck/shoulder, Amy!!!

I don't know where you were (weight wise), when you started SB. But I was at 252 when I started in January, 2007. I'm getting really close to be back in the 100's again...haven't been there in around 12 or 13 years!!! Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say 'hi'. Your journal looks great and you're doing fantastic!!!

Wow Amy!!! You've come a long way already!!! Kudos to you for getting back into phase 2 and a good exercise routine!!!

I definitely understand the plateauing. I'm in the midst of one of those brick walls right now. At least that's what it feels like. I'm bumping up my exercise, but the scales haven't moved much lately. I just keep trudging along, tho. Knowing that sooner or later, the scales are bound to move. In the meantime, I'm hoping I'm building muscle!!!

What kind of exercising are you doing??? I've been riding my stationary bike 2 or 3 times a week and doing an exercise dvd the other days. I'm trying to do something every day for 5 days. But I'm getting a bit bored with my exercise dvds. So I was wondering what you were doing so I can get some more ideas!!!

Don't you hate the brick walls and plateaus?

The shoulder/neck pain is still there today, but so much better than it was over the weekend!

Those look like fun, Amy!!! I'm going to check into getting a few of them and see how it goes!!! I keep telling myself that I need to go to the library and see if they have any exercise videos to check out. My library is small, so I'm not expecting they will have a wide variety. Thanks for ideas. I just hate spending the money for exercise videos that I may not like, you know???

Right now, I only have 1 dvd that I've bought to use. It's Kathy Smith's 'Lift Weights to Lose Weight'. It has a 20 minute upper body, 20 minute lower body and a 7 minute abs workout on it. When I get tired of this one, I have a few Denise Austin workouts that I have recorded off the Lifetime channel. I really don't care for Denise all that much, but it does break the monotony. ;)

Here's the link on Amazon for the Kathy Smith dvd:

Hope that works...it's an extremely long link...

Hi Rebekah,

I like the YBB videos a lot -- they are fun because they all have different themes.
