Hi,

I've been hearing a lot of you talk about how wonderful Salmon is, and I'd love to try it but don't have a clue as to how to buy it or cook it?!? Can you please give me some basic tips, and a simple way to cook it?

Thanks so much!

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I buy salmon in filets and either fry/poach or grill them. If you fry it, just put a little olive oil in a pan over medium heat and add the salmon when the oil is getting hot. Then I brush on a little dijon mustard (or any kind you like)and top that with a tsp or so of dried dill. Then add either white wine or lemon juice to your pan and cover. It doesn't take very long to cook...you know it's done when it had turned a whiteish-pink and flakes easily with a fork. You can also use this same recipe and put the whole thing in an oven-proof dish, cover with foil, and cook that way (350). Hope this helps!

I've bought salmon steaks and marinated them for grilling. Recently I bought a bag of frozen salmon fillets and I posted a question about salmon ideas....you might want to check out the thread below:
