For anyone who misses croutons on their salads, try these. I've found them in Wegman's and the Shop Rite, though Shop Rite had a better selection. They're only 1 g of carb/Tablespoon. And they're crunchy! The only thing I don't recall is the sodium content...

Have a great day!

Lee Anne,

Hmmm, I've seen these and often wondered about them; I'll have to check them out again. I use sunflower seeds on my salads.

Here's the link to the Almond Accents website. I'm at work right now, so I can't look at the bag, but it says on the website that they are dry-roasted. So, I think that they are just almonds and seasoning. I've tried the italian parmesan and the garlic caesar.

I guess I'm a little confused about not limiting carbs, I thought that was the point to the first phase, to avoid all those processed high carb foods.

Thanks! Lee Anne

Lee Anne the website didn't list ingredients.. I'm guessing the honey would NOT be SBD ok, except in later phases.

I think I understand. I have to get my mind out of the Atkins way that my hubbie is doing. I was gestational diabetic w/ my two boys, so this is similar to that diet, but I guess that is more like phase 2, cause I could have some whole wheat bread, crackers, etc.

I agree, I couldn't find the ingredients either. I'll try to post from home, with the bag in front of me! I'm assuming that the ones I have don't have any added sugar in them based on the fact that there is only 1 g of carb. I guess that is what I was trying to say earlier.

Time for lunch!

Ingredients: Sliced Almonds, Salt, Parmesan, Cheddar and Blue Cheeses (milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), Whey, Onion Powder, Vinegar Powder, Monosodium Glutamate, Corn Syrup Solids, Cultured Whey, Nonfat Milk, Spice.

I had learned some time ago that the order of ingredients is supposed to indicate how much of each was in it, so the first ingredient is the largest quantity and so on. So there is some sugar (corn syrup solids) in the ingredient label, but it can't be much because Sugars are listed as 0g under Total Carbs.

I think its a good option for someone who's on the go and wants something crunchy for their salad. But I suggest if you pack a salad for lunch, then pack these separately, because they get soggy!

I agree the honey ones are probably out unless they use an artificial sweetener.

Hi Lee Anne,

Why not just throw some nuts on top of your salad.

I crack raw almonds on my salad sometimes.
