YIKES --- Salmon Patties

I finally got around to attempting to make salmon patties. I opened the can of salmon (something I have never bought before) and YIKES - there were ugly bones and skin in it! And, it smelled like cat food! I threw it away. Obviously I bought the wrong kind. This was Chicken of the Sea Pink Salmon. I must admit I was rather confused when staring at all the varieties in the store. It sounds like a great recipe - especially with the curry sauce. Any tips on better salmon - or using fresh salmon????

I'm so hooked on salmon patties right now, my husband put me on a fish oil supplement thinking I may have been deficient! (awwww he cares) He would like to see at least 7 days between recipe repeats! Okay! His turn to cook! (my turn to run the office? I don't think so!)

The bones were large, there was alot of fat and skin.
REALLY disgusting.
I think I will try fresh salmon - at least then I know what I am getting!

BUT, I did decide to give it another try and found skinless/boneless canned salmon... and it is GREAT. Look for it next time your out. I try to use it now instead of tuna because it's better for you (higher in Omega-3, lower in Mercury).
I need to try the salmon patty recipe, where is it?

I made the salmon patties with fresh salmon - they were REALLY YUMMY!!
You were ALL right - this is an awesome recipe! I just can't get past the canned salmon/cat food stuff!!
