How to Core an Apple
Apple season is upon us, and, starting in Phase 2, you can enjoy these tasty, fiber-rich fruits. The simplest way to remove the inedible parts of an apple before eating it is to core it. Here are step-by-step instructions for this easy task.
Use an apple corer. This is a tool specially designed to core an apple in one swift motion. You can find it in grocery stores, department stores, or kitchen specialty shops. It's a round metal tool with a hole in the center and five or six metal cutters extending from the center.
Hold your apple firmly on a cutting board with the stem side up.
Center the apple corer over the stem and press down to slice through the apple.
The corer should go all the way through the apple and touch the cutting board. When you remove it, you will have neatly cut apple slices and can discard the core.
If you don't have access to an apple corer, you can also core the apple using a paring knife. Enjoy!
