There are very few canned soups that are okay on South Beach. Most have a higher GI than recommended and most contain ingredients that are not approved.
Why not make your own soup. If you do, this is how to adapt each soup below to SBD.
Barley mushroon - good in phase 2 because of the barley
Beef Barley - good in phase 2, again, because of the barley
Beef vegetable - good choice for all phases (omit carrots in phase 1)
black bean - great choice for all phases
bouillabaisse if it's made with just broth, fish and seasonings it's a great choice for all phases
cream of broccoli (made with water) if it's homemade with fat-free milk or fat free half & half it's okay on all phases
cream of chicken (made with water) - same as cream of broccoli
Fish chowder - omit potatoes and use fat free milk or fat free half & half
gazpacho - excellent choice for all phases
lentil - excellent choice for all phases
lentil w/ ham - use lean ham and fine in all phases
miso broth - all phases
minestrone - all phases (no potato or pasta)
tomato - most canned varieties contain sugar. Homemade is probably your only choice. Homemade tomato soup is good in all phases
vegatable - using the list of approved veggies, this is a great choice in all phases
vegetable w/ turkey - again, using approved veggies and white meat turkey, this can be eaten in all phases
You skipped one of my favorites - Split Pea is good for all phases.
Remember, corn is not allowed on South Beach. Peas and carrots can be added back in phase 2. Hope this answers your question.
