We'd all like to know what you think.

Ok, I ate the Mediterranean Chicken w/Couscous last night. The chicken was good, not weird, slimy, or rubbery, as I often fear with instant meals and fast food salads. The couscous was a little bland, but I added a little salt, and it was really good. Maybe if you have some minced garlic you could put that on there for a bit more flavor.
All in all, it was pretty good, especially for a quick meal. I definitely needed dessert afterwards, as I don't feel like it satisfied my hunger. So I had a ricotta creme, and then I was fine for the rest of the night, no desires to snack. Guess all that protein and fiber paid off!
It was, however, definitely more filling than a Lean Cuisine meal, and it felt healthier.
The only complaint I had was the price-- $3.99 at my supermarket! I'm sure soon they'll be running sales on the stuff, but if it is brand new and everyone wants to try it, why not reel in the dough and charge full price? Anyways, I think $4 is a lot for a frozen meal... so if you have time to cook, it's likely a lot cheaper. But if you don't have time, this is a good alternative.

Hi,
I was so excited to find SBD items at my store! I got the Whole Grain Crunch Cereal, the chocolate cereal bars (not my first choice, but it was the only one the store had) and I also got the Turkey Bacon Club Wrap and the Southwestern chicken wrap...I couldn't find the frozen dinner or pizza but was pretty happy to find those!
So far I've tried the chocolate cereal bars and was plesantly surprized! They were pretty tasty, chewy and satisfying, I really did enjoy it!
I'll add more once I've tried the other products, I'm going to try the cereal tomorrow!
HTH!

Hi Maggie,
Here is some info from the nutritionist regarding the sodium content of these items:
Hello!
Kraft foods is the best place to ask this question. The following is a FAQ from Kraft on the topic of sodium content.
"Why is the sodium high on these products? All of the varieties provide close to half of the daily recommendations for sodium?
- Sodium functions to keep food safe and contributes to taste.
- Our products have sodium levels that are consistent with competitors in some cases, and in other cases, more than competitors.
- Overall, we believe we have achieved a balance of delivering both on taste and on key nutrition. The entrees are a good source of both protein and fiber, unlike others.
- Note that when assessing salt levels vs. competitors, in some cases our serving sizes are greater than competition and therefore not comparable.
- On some of the varieties, we are looking at further ways to reduce the sodium, without compromising the taste or nutrition delivery that has been received so favorably by consumers.
- Dr. Agatston has reviewed all of the products and feels the entrees are consistent with the nutrition principles of the South Beach Diet.
Thank you!

and this...
Hello!
Dr. Agatston does not require South Beach Dieters to watch their sodium intake. Salt is included in the Kraft line of foods to enhance the flavor and preserve the product. For many, there is no need to be concerned with the amount of sodium you consumed. One meal higher in sodium can be part of a healthy eating plan. Following a healthy eating plan is all about balance.
Some people have medical reasons to limit the amount of sodium they consume. If your doctor has recommended following a low sodium diet please be aware many convenience foods will have a higher salt content for preservation purposes and you should carefully read the nutritional facts on their labels.
Please pass your feedback along to Kraft foods. All feedback will help them to create the best line of foods for the consumers.
Thank you!

still more....
The guidelines for sodium intake have just changed recently. Here are the new Dietary Guidelines from the USDA.
• Consume less than 2,300 mg (approximately 1 tsp of salt) of sodium per day.
• Choose and prepare foods with little salt. At the same
time, consume potassium-rich foods, such as fruits and
vegetables.
Key Recommendations for Specific Population Groups
Individuals with hypertension, blacks, and middle-aged and older adults
. Aim to consume no more than 1,500 mg of sodium per day, and meet the potassium recommendation (4,700 mg/day) with food.

I agree with Maggie; while sodium intake is not part of SBD, I don't think it's necessarily healthy for anyone to be taking in a lot of sodium in general. I suppose it's a tradeoff for all the other healthful things in the meals, but it goes to show that someone on SBD should not rely on these Kraft SBD meals. You're probably best off (both health-wise and money-wise) to buy fresh meat and produce and cook it yourself!
Just my two cents on the whole sodium issue...

Cathy, thanks for sharing what they're saying about the sodium!
I hear you on the sodium. While I don't have a family history or any personal health concerns about it, I just don't like putting that much salt into my body and I hate how bloated I get. Just this week I was short on time so I had canned lentil soup for lunch for two days and added some sauteed spinach to incrase my veggies. Even though I drank water like crazy my weight shot up two pounds each day and I was very puffy!
We don't have the SBD foods yet in my hometown, but I'll be careful of this . . .
I have to agree too. I posted about this when SBD first posted the link to these foods a few weeks ago. I'm also not too happy with the sugar content of some of the bars.
I know that these are supposed to be "occassionally" things, but it almost seems that they are just jumping on the diet product bandwagon and compromising everything that SBD stands for. And what about the people that don't read this message board that will be eating these foods reguarly, assuming that they are on the "south beach diet"?
Really makes you wonder. I haven't found any of these products where I live in Northeast Pa yet, and not sure if I will buy any, but I just needed to add my 2 cents to this thread.
