Most of us have a sweet tooth and we can satisfy it while still following SBD. Let's create a list here, for easy reference, of all the sweet treats we can have. Don't forget to indicate the phase and include a quick recipe if needed.

Here are some that come to mind:

Sugar-Free Jello (all phases)

No Sugar Added Fudge Bars (all phases)

No Sugar Added Popsicles (all phases)

Sugar Free Pudding (phase 2 & 3)

Mix together one softened sugarfree fudge bar with some no sugar added peanut butter and a squirt of ready whip. YUM!

Sometimes I'll save my dairy until after dinner and make myself a nice big glass of SBD Chocolate milk or hot chocolate. It helps make me feel full and satisfies my sweet tooth.

Chocolate milk: 1 cup skim milk, 1 tsp, cocoa powder, enought Splenda to make it taste good. I put it all in the blender for a few seconds and then its all nice and frothy and delish! (Good for all phases)

I thought I had read, maybe in the good fats good carbs guide, that we should avoid the canned whipped cream. I don't remember why, was it trans fats? Or maybe I totally misread that. I've been using FF Cool Whip, but if the canned stuff is equally acceptable, I'd buy that, because my kids LOVE squirting the stuff on their jello. Could you clarify this for me?

Hi,

Actually, the Cool Whip contains trans-fats.

Here are my favorite phase 1 sweet treats:

1 cup of LF ricotta mixed with vanilla extract and Splenda (to taste). I mix it well then roll it into a log. Roll in crushed almonds and stick it in the freezer for about 10 minutes to set.

1 cup FF/plain yogurt Columbo brand (IMO the best one)mixed with two Splenda packets and the juice of a couple of fresh lemon wedges.

My new favorite shake:

1 cup of skim milk
vanilla extract (to taste)
cocoa powder (to taste)
1/2 c of ricotta cheese (sounds icky but it gives thickness and smooths out)

I put it all in a tumbler and mix with my hand held blender. I do like to put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes to get it nice and cold. The ricotta does smooth out when blended and you can't even taste it. Sometimes I add a little bit of coffee grounds for a mocha shake. It's a filling drink and a great way to get in the dairy!

Here's my favorite..I miss the texture of a warm cookie, and this fills the need..:) I just had a thought to throw a few mini chocolate chips on top when they come out of the oven...YUM! Has anyone done that?

Good for all phases (aside from the chocolate idea I had..save that for phase 2!)

Peanut Butter Cookies (all phases)

1 Cup Crunchy Peanut Butter
1 Egg
1 Cup granular Splenda

Beat egg. Mix together all ingredients. Spoon quarter-sized balls onto a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray or “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” spray. For a “sugary” taste, dip the bottom of a glass into granular Splenda, and press it on top of each cookie.

Bake for 10-12 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.

I use smooth peanut better, we dont' like the crunchy stuff. Makes about 12-14 cookies...not too many, not too much temptaion to eat too many..:)

Would the peanut butter cookie recipe work using natural peanut butter? I thought we weren't allowed to have regular peanut butter on SBD... I do hope so, because this recipe sounds GREAT!!!!!!
