Kashi products ?

Good morning ladies,

I have done some searching on the board since I joined a few weeks ago.  This board is so helpful and I feel like SB has hit a whole new level for me with all the great suggestions, recipes and words of encouragement.

The one question I have, as I have not found it on the board is regarding Kashi products. I have seen much on the cereal, eat the original Go Lean, not the crunch, but I just got an email from Kashi to take a survey on their products and new ones coming out.  My question is this: of the kashi products out there, which ones fall in the SB approval category?  They have bars, crackers, cereals, even waffles.  Can any one enlighten me on this, because it could open up a whole new world.  By the way, I am on Phase 3, and have been for 1 year.

Thanks gals,

Kathy

I know the Kashi GoLean frozen waffles are ok and I eat them on occasion. I've seen people eating their Pumpkin Flax bars but am not familiar enough with the ingredients to say positively whether they are "legal" or not. I keep the TLC crackers on hand for my kids but I don't think they have enough fiber to be legal for SB.

Hi Kathy,

You're right to avoid the "Crunch" cereal.

Hi Kris,

I guess you answered your own question about the cinnamon cereal.

Cathy,

Your information above was very informative, thanks!! What about adding some Fibresure or Metamucil to the cereal to bring up the fiber content? Would that help it qualify?

I'm scouring the Boards as I'm starting Monday as well. I need to start on P2 (because of my diabetes) and am looking at every piece of information that i can find. We bought some of the Uncle Sam's cereal yesterday and my husband tried it this morning. Apparently with 10g of fiber per serving - according to my husband - it was "rather chewy". He said that he wanted to have more, but was tired from all that chewing!!

So, can we 'up' the fiber content by using an artificial means of fiber?

Be sure you check the serving size on the Uncle Sam cereal.

Thanks, Cathy, for the prompt reply and for the clarification on the 'portion size'. I'll tell hubby to not break a sweat over his cereal - as if he does sweat, his portion size was too large!!

Also, thanks for the Metamucil link.

I have so much to learn about SBD that wasn't in the book! Add this to watching my sugar level and I've got a full time job!!!
