Help with baked ww tortillas...

I have now tried baking 3 brands of ww "tortilla" and cannot get to what I think it should taste like.  I have tried cooking spray and olive oil and have tried salting them. Mine remind me of cardboard with salt.  This is probably the only food item I have truly struggled with replacing on SBD.  I love nachos and dip and miss the corn tortillas.

Would you some of you mind telling which brand you use and how you bake your ww tortillas if you think they taste good?  I want to keep trying...I know there is a good recipe out there for me.

IMO you're never going to get them to taste like packaged tortilla chips.

I use the same method you do, but spice them up a bit more. I use garlic salt and a little cumin and chili powder. I use a misto to spritz them very lightly with olive oil and then bake them until crisp.

Try using WW pitas, instead of tortillas.

Great...I am going to try the pitas with smart balance and some spicier seasoning!

I think the tortillas are the hardest to get to come out like chips. I do pita a lot - but I find if get the best "chips" from flatbread. Its somewhere in between - not as thin and tortilla but not quite as thick as a pita.

Also - we love Triscuit nachos (with the Thin Crisps - they are even triangle shape!). I make them for the kids and dh all the time. Dh was literally a nacho fiend, and he adores the Triscuit version. Much quicker and easier than making chips too!

I remember you saying before that you make Triscuit nachos.

I've never had them get soggy - we just put them on a plate, sprinkle on cheese, then microwave to melt it. After the cheese is melted we add meat and/or beans (already heated separately). Then our salsa, sour cream, green onions, and of course guacamole. They are usually gobbled up long before anything can get soggy LOL! I actually used to have the regular tortilla chips get much more soggy than the Triscuits - they are so much thicker than a tortilla chip.
