Hi!
Can anyone tell me exactly what an enlarged heart is? What are some problems that can arise? Are there physical limitations (including sexual)?

An enlarged heart can be caused by SO many things that it's impossible to make even an educated guess to help you out or give you any logical information! I think your very best course of action would be to see a cardiologist and have him/her run some tests to determine why your heart is enlarged, what (if any) meds you might want to begin taking, and what (if any) restrictions you would need to make to your lifestyle. Make that appointment with a good cardiologist....for your own peace of mind, if for no other reason! You really should KNOW why your heart is enlarged. You don't mention your age, whether or not you've ever seen a cardiologist, whether or not you're on any medications, or how active or inactive your lifestyle is...it's hard to give you any answers at all without knowing what your cardiologist has told you....and your cardiologist would really be your first person to see to have your questions answered. i have seen 2 different cardiologists now and am going to a heart failure specialist at the end of this month. i don't know if i am in denial or what, but i am having a really tough time with all of this information. i am not sure that i believe what they are saying (especially when they say that a 5 year life expectancy is not even a thing to look forward to). is this normal? is this how it happens? i have so many questions and yet no one that i know can answer anything for me because no one i know has ever been exposed to this but maybe now i have found the place for other women like me.

I hope that the cardiac specialist can give you some answers to your questions...your doctor should always be your first resource when you have cardiac problems! I'm glad you're going to see a specialist. I do have a question for you, though.....why did your doctors allow you to return to work after only two weeks? That seems very strange. Usually, there is a longer period of time when you aren't allowed to work....when the doctors will monitor you very closely. Just wondering! Please let us know how your appointment goes with the specialist, okay? Good luck!
