Split pea cooking question

I wanted to make the crockpot split pea soup for lunch tomorrow (my in-laws are coming). I know, from experience, that this particular soup really needs the 8 full hours of cooking on 'low' to get the split peas nice and soft.  I'm guessing that I won't be able to turn the crockpot on until 7:00 tomorrow morning, which would only give me about 5 hours of cooking time.  I could cook it on high, but my other question is...if I soak the split peas overnight, will they cook quicker if I leave it on low?  I've never cooked this soup on the 'high' setting, and I know some things just taste better when they are slow cooked.

Any suggestions or advice?  Thanks!

It was great; I did it in the crockpot for 5 hours on 'high'.

Split pea is the best left-over.

Making a pot today -- going into work late today, as I got home from travelling so late last night.

I bought my dried split peas...do I need to soak them overnight before putting in the crockpot?

No; you don't soak them.

The triscuit idea is a good one.

After you puree the soup pour it back into the pot.
