This is an easy one...yay! BTW, I cut the recipe in half when I make it but I am posting it as I got it. Halved is plenty for several (4-5?) people. Since I'm the only one that will eat it in my house I'm not sure how many servings it is. lol
anyway, here it is:
4 cups dry red lentils
2 qt water
2 tsp turmeric
1 1/2 tbsp salt
Rinse lentils well. cover bottom of pot with oil and heat on med-high. place lentils and turmeric in pot for a couple minutes then add water and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer until lentils are medium soft (about 10-12 minutes. Add additional water if dal is too thick (should be kind of thick apple sauce consistency). Adjust salt. Dal can be garnished with chopped green onions, chopped tomatoes or fried sliced onions (my favorite...lol)
Enjoy!
