Does anyone have any recipes for salad dressings, that are more creamy in texture than vinigarette like?
I tend to like the creamy -- ranch, blue cheese, creamy ceasar, etc. Vinigarette's are ok to toss in for something different but I like the creamy. Looking for recipes using FF yogurt as a base for dressings to help cut the fat/calories. I'm not good at creating my own, hopefully someone here is!
I looked at the new Wishbone Spritz ones yesterday -- they all contain HFCS as one of the first couple of ingredients, so going to avoid those. Thought that was a nice idea to spritz, but uh-uh on those. I know Paul Newman has some too, but didn't see those.
And, now that we are following SB faithfully, I have a lot of seasonings on hand, thought it might be easy to whip up some yogurt based ones, if I had some recipes.
Thanks!
Sue

I don't have any recipes, but do you have access to a Whole Foods?
I often make my own bleu cheese recipe. I don't have an exact recipe so you may have to taste and tweak it.
I use a combination of ff sour cream, ff plain yogurt and lf mayo (about 1/3 cup of each should do it). Then I add the juice of 1/2 a lemon, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon fresh dill (or 1/2 tablespoon dried), a dash of worcestershire sauce, a dash of tabasco. Add some crumbled bleu cheese. Mix it all together and then drizzle in some skim milk until you get the consistency you like.
Again, you'll need to taste it to see if you need to add more of any of the ingredients (best to refrigerate and wait a few hours so the flavors have a chance to meld).
We do have a Whole Foods on my way to work.
Sue -- I also can't find the spelt pretzels anywhere else, and I don't live convenient to a Whole Foods, so I understand why you buy so many!
I generally like creamy too - but I am not so creative as to make them. I just buy bottled light ranch, light creamy ceasar, etc. There are TONS of SBD friendly bottled/pre-made options out there for creamy dressings if you don't want to make your own!

Michael Ann -- which brand or type do you find that are good creamy options?
I love the Ken's Light dressings (esp. the Creamy Caesar), Hidden Valley Light Ranch, there are also SBD Dressings - they have ranch. Kraft also has a "Light Done Right" ranch and creamy caesar. Then my stores have some store brands that are light. I've actually NEVER seen a light ranch or caesar with too much sugar. Fat-free - yes, they compensate there by adding sugar, but usually the light ones are fine.

Hhmmmm
FYI. Although it may be a personal choice to opt for the light versions of bottled salad dressings, it's not a SB requirement.
The SB salad dressing requirement is that the nutrition labels list 3g of sugar or less per serving.
Many bottled salad dressings are legal.
