snack ideas for SBD children?

My family knows I am changing the way I eat, but I don't think they know they are also! Meals are no problem because they are not picky at all and love vegetables. Snacks are a problem though especially since my 14 year old son has taken an interest in cooking- usually sweets, but he has made some Thai and Mexican entrees as well. My 14 year old isn't overweight yet, but is sedentary, while my 11 year old is constantly on the go but getting chubby.

What are your kids' favourite snacks??

Patri,

If your kids aren't picky about veggies, that's always a good snack option.

String cheese
String cheese stick wrapped in lunch meat
Yogurt - they love to flavor it, we use sugar-free jello powder, fruit, granola, etc. and they make their own flavor concoctions
Fruit - oranges, grapes, apples dipped in peanut butter, melon, etc. - usually w/a yogurt dip
Triscuits w/cheese
spelt pretzels
popcorn
Kashi granola bars
SBD cereal bars
Fruit Leather
dried fruit
nuts
sunflower seeds
ww pita chips w/hummus, salsa or guac
hard boiled eggs/deviled eggs
carrots w/ranch
brown rice cakes w/peanut butter
Garden Harvest Chips
quesadillas on ww tortillas
smoothies
sugar-free pudding cups
sugar-free applesauce cups
flatbread or ww english muffin pizzas - spread with scoop of pizza sauce, sprinkle cheese, any toppings they like - broil

Some things that would be great for your 14yr old to make himself are things like his own flavors of yogurt, smoothies, etc. They can really have fun with trying different fruits and flavor combos.
Other things that are easy to make and allow some creativity are the mini-pizzas or quesadillas.

Assure your kids that they are not the only ones that have to put up with it.

Fruit Leather is basically like a fruit roll up with no added sugar, its just pureed fruit that has been dried. There are a number of brands out, they are usually either in the produce section or with the fruit snacks.
