Steamed Broccoli With Oranges and Pecans

A wonderful side dish! Even children who don't like broccoli can be won over by the sweetness of the oranges and the crunchiness of the pecans.

Serving: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

2 tablespoons pecan halves
1 ½ pound broccoli crowns, washed, trimmed, cut into florets
1 orange, peeled, halved, seeds removed, sliced very thin
½ teaspoon minced orange peel
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1. Preheat oven to 325°.

2. Place pecans in metal pie plate or small cookie sheet and roast in oven for 10-15 minutes or until they begin to brown. Remove from oven, let cool, and coarsely chop.

3. Fill large saucepan with 2" water and bring to a boil. Place broccoli in steaming basket (or stainless colander). Place basket in saucepan, cover and steam for 7 minutes (do not overcook).

4. Transfer broccoli to serving dish, add pecans and orange slices, season with orange peel and pepper. Toss gently to mix. Serve immediately.
