I Made Tofu For Dinner

I've had tofu before - I've made smoothies and had it in miso soup at Japanese restaurants but this tonight was my first foray into cooking a meal with tofu.

I made Thai Tofu (one of the recipes here on the board) and it was good.

One thing that I am not sure about though.....I thought tofu was supposed to take on the flavor of the things it is cooked with. I could taste the Thai flavorings in the sauce that covered the tofu pieces, but the tofu itself was rather bland.

I also made tofu today, and noticed the same thing.

Mine were 1" cubes and they seemed rather large. I cut them in half as I ate them.

Yay for branching out!

Next time try marinating the tofu the morning (or at least an hour before) you plan to make it. For example, if you were to make another Asian recipe, you could marinate it in some soy sauce and lemon or lime juice, or whatever flavors would compliment the other flavors in the recipe. It also helps if you cut the tofu into cubes, because then it is able to soak up more of the flavors.
