New to the board and looking for feedback.

My sister has episodes of a very rapid heart beat and was recently diagnosed with av node supraventricular tachycardia and they suggested doing ablation surgery rather than controlling it with meds. Does anyone have any feedback concerning this condition and the abaltion surgery and its recovery time etc?

many thanks!

I had an ablation for irregular beats (multifocal PVCs) and it was very easy, I don't remember any of it, and I was back home that same evening. The only pain I had was from an excruciating pee catheter (something must have been done wrong, because apparently it's not supposed to hurt). I was up and about the next day, though still mightily groggy, and didn't develop a UTI though I was convinced I would from that darn pee catheter. Oh yes, she might want to shave her bikini area first--or they'll do it for you, dry. (The upper thigh is where they inserted the ablating catheter). Best of luck to her!
