Stroke and parenting ?

Hi everyone, I was directed here from another board, hoping I could get some answers.

My ex-spouse suffered a severe stroke 2 years ago. He has made an awesome recovery. He had right side paralysis, lost his speech and had many complications. He now walks, has not yet got full use of his right arm, and can communicate by talking in small sentences.

We have a 2 year old daughter (almost - August) together. He seems to want nothing to do with her. I know he is still very bitter. For the safety of my kids, I had to leave. He is still prone to fits of rage. I have been told my expectations are too high. That I can't expect him to be a parent. I'm looking for anyone who has been through this experience, where the stroke victim has remained in a parenting role, and exactly what their capabilities are.

I need to know if I'm pushing for something that can never happen. I honestly believe it is a choice he's making.

Help anyone!!!!!!!!!!
