MAYDAY! Adderall effects on 25 year old

My younger sis is in very good health, apart from smoking (which she knows she should quit). She is pre-med at UC Berkeley. She was diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) and put on Adderall. She has been on this for 8 months.

In April, she started having panic attack types of symptoms. These have escalated into episodes involving loss of vision and STROKE RELATED symptoms.

Adderall was taken off the market in Canada for being linked with 20+ deaths in young, otherwise healthy people.

Her doctors have advised her to remain on Adderall (I don't trust these doctors!!!). Today -- she called me from an ER where they are persistently refusing to do tests on her and claiming it's still panic attack stuff -- she called and told me she is going off Adderall today.

HOWEVER -- being pre-med, she looked into this -- where a person has mini strokes, it is often the case that he/she will have a FATAL stroke. Where a person does not have mini precursor strokes, a stroke will likely be non-fatal.

Understandably, I am completely freaking out, and so is she. We aren't telling my mom about this yet because I'm too panicked to think clearly and don't want to panic her.

HELP!!!!!!!! WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS?

You are so kind. Thank you for the lovely welcome to the board.

It seems that she is okay. She went to the ER yesterday and they ordered a CT Scan and a spinal tap (which I guess was very painful but helpful) -- she had some bleeding in her brain, which they stopped somehow.

The doctor told her he believed the bleeding was a result of Adderall and stress. She is never going to take Adderall again.

I really appreciate your posting.

I am so relieved that someone took notice of her needing further testing.
