Sleep Apnea & Cardiovascular Disease...

  • Sleep apnea is common.

  • During sleep apnea, the body releases adrenalin

  • Adrenalin increases blood pressure

  • Adrenalin puts stress on the heart

  • Sleep apnea is associated with high blood pressure and heart disease

  • Treating sleep apnea with a positive pressure mask stabilizes the blood pressure and relieves the stress on the heart

DYK my older brother was born with a very rare form of sleep apnea called C.C.H.S for short, or Ondine's Curse. He was only the 8th baby in the world to be born w/it and survive. News Week did an article on him when he was born!

Oh, wow! That's interesting, Beck! How has he done with the C.C.H.S? Would you mind telling me how old he is now? (If not, that's okay. I'm just curious.) Also, are you still cl-ing a board? I haven't seen you, that's why I ask.

My brother is 31!! When he was born they told my mom all sorts of things, like he won't live past age 2, he'll never walk, he won't be able to talk, he'll never swim, etc etc etc.. He proved them ALL wrong!! He's lived a very normal life for the most part. He was very "sickly" as a child, lots of hospital stays, simple colds would easily turn to pneumonia and he'd end up in the hospital,
