On average, smokers experience symptoms of peripheral artery disease (PAD) 10 years earlier than non-smokers.

Not surprising at all! I think my recent heart surgery replacing 3 vessels and removal of dead heart muscle and getting an aneurysm patch had something to do with being a smoker for over 10 years, often 2 packs a day! I quit 28 years ago, when pregnant with my DD, but I believe by then the damage was already done. I don't have PAD, but damaged my heart instead. :(( The consequences of high fat/sodium diet, sporadic exercise, etc., all laid the groundwork to my need for the surgery. I wish I had gotten smart decades ago, you know?! The more info we get, hopefully we can learn to take better care of ourselves. ;)
