While the exact causes of high blood pressure remain unknown, it's clear that two factors under your own control can help fight back - what you eat, and how much you weigh.

Dr. Fernstrom shares her tips for lowering blood pressure here: http://madelynfernstrom.ivillage.com/2009/07/tips-for-lowering-blood-pressu.html

Good article. Because high blood pressure can be a "silent killer," it is very important to get checkups, or have your own cuff and take your own BP now & then. I am glad the article acknowledged that just diet & exercise are *NOT* always enough. Because they aren't always. :O Unfortunately. Keeping track is very important, but a healthy lifestyle with low fat, low salt, low simple junk sugar diets, plus daily exercise, definitely can't hurt! ;))
