IMO, if we are talking fully sugared, I'd say no, not healthy or good at all on a daily/regular basis. Empty junk calories that just pile the weight on. <:=\ Rot one's teeth, could lead to diabetes issues. Why are KIDS becoming diabetic? Drinking umpteen sodas a day, sugared fruit juices, etc. <:O
If diet, o.k. But again not nutritious. But neither is coffee or tea, for that matter. ;) And you never know about the artificial sweeteners being healthy long term. Who knows if there won't be health warnings, cancer warnings, in a decade or more, like has happened in the past? Consuming chemicals regularly is not a good idea, IMO. And some diet sodas have sodiium, which should be a concern for people with high blood pressure, etc., that should be on low sodium diets.

Yes, carbonation can be an embarrassment to health, especially in public.
