For some strange reason my cat didn't like the smell of something in our closet and peed on it.

You might look for a product called Simple Solution. I use it when Tillie throws up on the carpet. It takes care of both the stain and the odor. It has a very pleasant scent that cats don't seem to think much of so they don't return to the spot. It is very easy to use and pretty inexpensive. I buy mine at PetSmart and I would guess that any pet store carries it or you can order it online.

Good luck!
