I still want to take time tomorrow to respond to every post, but I thought I'd at least tell you all how very much I appreciate your kind words and warm welcome to my Salty (still trying to find another name....LOL) I got off work at 4pm....I thought of her all day & it seemed an eternity until work was over. I then went to where dh works so we could go together to some pet stores for supplies during his lunch break (he works till 8pm). I bought her a nice bed, scratching post, food dish mat, and tons of toys. I got to the Humane Society at 6pm and finally got my sweet baby! They put her in a box carrier. Their pet store gave me some Science Diet food and I bought another toy or two....giggle! I was driving home and her meowing broke my heart so I opened the box and she rode all the way home in my lap! She purred and rubbed up against my face. I think she realized she was lucky to have someone to love & rescue her. :-)

I put her back in the box when we were home but she is an escape artist and got out one of the ends anyway! Thank goodness the garage door had closed so I could catch her and take her to one of our bedrooms (dh's office) where I then put her bed, post, litter box, food, water, etc. She is smart...I didn't latch the door 100% and she managed to put her paw under the door & open it. I found her on the couch quite pleased with herself. LOL I brought her back to her room (since they said to keep her separated until she sees the vet for her checkup on Monday at 4pm) I let one of my other cats, Boots, upstairs while the other two were in the basement. Boots sniffed under the door where Salty & I were. She was meowing and seemed upset I was ignoring her to be with this stranger. I opened the door a tiny crack & they hissed at each other. I went out & gave Boots some attention, and then returned to Salty for some TLC. She is sooooo sweet! She's curled up on my lap several times and she loves her post and is eating from time to time. She hasn't taken to her bed yet. I haven't seen her use the litter box yet either. Maybe she's shy...giggle! When I leave the room she cries until I return. We left her alone about 40 minutes while we ran out to do some quick shopping tonight. I came back and now since dh won't let her sleep in our bedroom since he's worried about the other cats catching something from her or visa versa, I'm here in Salty's room with a sleeping bag & I'm gonna sleep with HER. ;-) She's snuggled up to me right now. She's such a sweetheart...I'm so very happy I found her!!! The other cats are sleeping downstairs.

I will post responses to all your wonderful posts tomorrow along with some new photos. Seems she knows when I'm going to take her photo and she goes the other way.....giggle! I hope she'll be ok tomorrow when I'm at work. Thank goodness it's only until 11am. I'll be home by 11:30 and I'll have the rest of the day & weekend with her.

Good night!

Suzy

that is so wonderful! when I brought Alixx home he was 8 weeks old.. he was SO scared. I put him in our spare bedroom downstairs and stayed with him all night. he hid under the bed. I finally went to bed and during the middle of the night he came out and was sleeping on my head... he's been my bud ever since.. bless your heart for taking Salty.. she sounds like she's so sweet.

hugs,

Ann

awww suzy! i can tell how excited you are over salty and i feel excited for you too!! lol. hopefully the vet check will go okay and her introduction to your other cats goes smoothly. how lucky you are to have multiple furbabies! i'm jealous of anyone who has more than 1! lol. my daisy wouldn't like it too much if we brought her home a little brother or sister. she likes being the only spolied baby in the house!! lol

good luck and have fun with salty.

Thank you Pink! I am very excited and am loving every minute with her. I will keep everyone posted on how the check-up goes Monday.

Your Daisy is very lucky to have you! She deserves to be spoiled. :-)

When I had my first cat (Missy) she was an only cat and was quite happy that way. When I moved to Britain to study and couldn't take her with me, she moved into my parent's home and grew to love their dachshund Pepper.

I worried a lot about how this would affect my other 3 cats....who grew up together and have been a team for 6 1/2 years. I think poor Boots is feeling insecure. I try to go back & forth spending time in Salty's private room (which I think she has to stay in for a week from what I've read....I'll double check with the vet on that) and then I go spend time with Boots, Patches & Thomie. Now I'm in with Salty & dh Tim is in the other room with our other furbabies. Salty (I'm going to try to find a better name this weekend) is under my sleeping bag now burrowing...LOL She seems content when I'm here with her. When I leave the room for awhile & come back she "scolds" me.

It's nearly midnight so I'll try to sleep in here with her a bit.

Have a great weekend!

I totally agree! Salty's bringing me so much love already. I am amazed how quickly we've bonded. I bet she misses the kittens she was pregnant with....I still don't know what happened. Dh thinks maybe they were stillborn? I guess I'll never know for sure. Her paperwork written by her former owner said she was pg. The Humane Society said she was turned in on June 2 and spayed on the 4th. They didn't provide me with any explanation. One of the volunteers thought maybe she'd lost the kittens due to stress or maybe they were premature. Poor thing! I will just have to love her all the more to make up for the stress.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you Ann!

Alixx sounds wonderful! My baby Salty is getting better too. She's less scared when I leave the room. Yesterday she ran to the door, now she will lay on the chair and trust me when I tell her I'll be back. She still scolds me in her cute voice when I return, but she's no longer desperately trying to open the door when I leave.

Hope she'll sleep more tonight....last night she climbed up on dh's scanner & other computer equipment and seemed a bit restless.

I'll keep you posted....

Good Night!

Suzy :-)
