I need some advice. I have had my cat for 5 years. He's a beautiful half coon w/ long gray beautiful hair and we just recently got a dog. They hate each other and it seems as though the cat is yearning for effection all of the time. I feel so quilty because I can't give it to him all of the time and when I do, it's not enough. He has rebelled and is jumping on all of the furniture in the house and has scratched w/ his back claws 3 pieces of nice furniture. My husband is so furious with him and I think that I might have to give him away. It breaks my heart but I need him to be in an enviroment where he is loved 100% of the time. Can someone please advise me on what to do?

Hi Bladun.
Welcome to the board Bladun. I am so sorry your kitty is acting up, but it does take some time for them to get used to a new furkid. My cats are still not liking our dog and we have had him for almost a year now!
I would give it some more time, hopefully he will come to know that the dog is staying and will come to accept it. Try to set aside some time every day to just play with the cat without the dog around.
Hope it works out for you!
