Cat is peeing on new slate floors

This question is actually from a friend who recently had brand new hardwood and slate floors installed in her house. Her 18 year old cat has started peeing on the slate floor in addition to using the litterbox on a daily basis. She seems to do this in a couple of places a couple times per day. This was not something she did before the floors were changed. Given the age of the cat, having the workers in the house doing the installations for several weeks may have caused her some stress but they have been gone for a while now and she's still peeing on the slate.

Anyone know why this might be happening and what my friend can do to stop this? As I said before the cat will still go in her litterbox in addition to the new floors.

She should be taken to the vet to rule out a UTI - stress can often cause them.
