Jealous kitty?

We got a new kitten in the home and have been working on getting the kitties used to each other. The kitten doesn't seem to mind any, but the older male (age unknown) gets a little growly with her. He doesn't hurt her and mostly walks away.

What I find weird is that he's almost reverted back to kitten type behavior around us-- is this unusual? He's never one to cry or follow you around, but he's started doing that. If you sit down he's right there wanting in your lap when usually he's fine to hang out on the back of the couch. At night if he climbs in bed he has to be in the middle of both of us or sitting on our chests or by our heads. He has to rub and purr and he simply can't not be paid attention to. He'll roll around with his feet in the air-- it's all pretty comical-- until he's jumping on the tables, counters etc and knocking everything over trying to get your attention. If the kitten comes around he gets all upset and jumps away and pouts or wants to go outside.

Is this just something temporary? We've tried giving him ample time to sit and pet and play with him, but it doesn't seem to be enough for him.

What do we do??
