The rough descent of the fairy queen

Saturday I witnessed something moving being flung out of a pickup truck window some distance ahead of me, and I pulled over to investigate what it was. Much to my dismay, there was a sweet mewing coming from the side of the road, and I found a tiny little kitten. We guess that she's no more than seven or eight weeks old. Besides being appalled at the manner in which she arrived in our lives, she is very.... cute (unfortunately for us, we're suckers!!). Anyway, kitty seems no worse for the wear, and an emergency call to the vet ruled out any major concerns.

Having "flown" here near Summer Solstice, and looking very much like the fairy queen (we thought), we considered the name "Titania" from Midsummer Night's Dream. We may still use "Titiania" for her majesty at formal functions, but we thought the shorter "Tanya" would suffice for now. (Tanya is Russian for Fairy Queen). Our other cats Ginger and Magic have decided she is their kitten (how nice of us to consider adoption, since they could have none of their own... being appropriately fixed!). They've both been grooming Tanya nonstop, and since Magic often gets tired of younger Ginger's antics, he's been glad to have a break from her. Ginger and Tanya have been having a ball.

We have been keeping her this weekend as sort of a "trial," as we hadn't anticipated expanding our kitty family any further anytime soon.... but we're finding we're getting rather attached to this cute little one. As I'm typing this she's curled up, purring in my lap. Sweet little brown tabby baby.

Oh my lord, I don't even know which emoticon to pick for this post, so I will leave it blank.

First of all, #%$^&%$#%$ to those SOBs who would toss a poor, defenceless little kitten out of a window like that!!!!! I'm so angry I can barely type. I hate people like these. They literally make my blood boil. I'm going to stop here before I go any further and say something that will get my post deleted. :(

Next, thank GOD she was okay! That is truly a miracle that she could survive that without even a minor injury. She really is an angel and you were meant to take her home to your Ginger and Magic. That is so sweet that they have "adopted" her so quickly! And bless you for taking her home!!!

Ooooh how sweet!!! How very nice of you & your family to take her in. I can't believe people just throw kittens out windows...wish I had his license plate to report him!

Little Tanya sounds adorable & I'm glad she's being welcomed so eagerly by Ginger & Magic!

Keep us posted on her & I look forward to seeing photos of her, too!

Thank you for all of your kind replies! I wish I had been close enough to get the license plate number on the truck, but I only saw something vaguely cat shaped flying through the air... and wondered if I was just dreaming! I'm afraid I wasn't "with it" enough to think "gee, I'll get that plate number just in case that really WAS a flying cat... or rat.... or something!" She's so small she kind of did look like a rat at first! Part of why I rather wondered what the heck was going on (although I don't think I would pick up a rat and take it home, thank you very much... Ginger and Magic may digress....lunch! yum!). My husband and I agreed during a conversation on my cell phone afterwards that "a couple of guys in a white pickup" probably wasn't going to be enough for the police to do anything about.

Anyway, the longer Tanya has been here, the more it seems that she has claimed her home as being right here. She's a sweet little thing, and Dave (my husband) says he can tell I'm attached to her. (This from the man making koochie-koochie sounds while rubbing her little tummy). I'm taking her in to the vet tomorrow, and getting her a city license too, so I guess we're making it official. The fairy queen has landed. Hopefully for the last time. :-)

And I've uploaded some pictures of the kitties:

Enjoy :-)

Hugs to you for taking in the sweet little kitten. I wont say anything about the "people" who threw her out of their truck or I might MELT my keyboard from the flames shooting from my fingers!!!

Your kitties are so sweet! They must know the little gal needed some extra special loving - and you can tell from the lovely photo of them all together. How SWEET!!!
