Hello all....I was hoping someone might have some ideas

My husband & I are going crazy! We love our dear Zelda more than anything in the world (she's a Turkish Van, adopted from the animal shelter) and wouldn't give her up for anything! The only complaint that we have is how much her hair has taken over EVERYTHING! I haven't had too many problems cleaning the furniture and the carpets, just the occasional stubborn hairs from her tail....no big deal. The laundry is a whole other situation though. The clothes come out of the dryer covered in it! We CAN'T get rid of it!! We buy the lint rollers that are specifically for pet hair and they do work, but it takes FOREVER! Does anyone have suggestions for this? I thought I had heard something about putting something in the dryer to help with it, but I don't remember what it was!!! TIA!!!!

Have you tried using dryer sheets, like Bounce or Downy? They help to cut down dramatically on the static, which is what causes the fur to stick so much in the first place.

Hi Valarie,

It does appear that we are all going through the shedding business.

Thanks all for your replies!! I use dryer sheets already, but it doesn't seem to help at all. There's still way more hair on the clothes than in the lint trap. It looks like the suckers just dig themselves in and hang on for dear life LOL!! As far as brushing....good luck LOL! She can tolerate it for a bit, but then the fight's on. The hair mainly seems to come from underneath, but she won't let me get near it with a brush LOL!!

PS...I don't actually use a brand named dryer sheet, I use the cheap brand, does that make a difference?

Absolutely, at least in my experience with them. I think Bounce even makes and extra non-static sheet. You may want to try them. From the sounds of it, it may be your only hope!

Thanks for the info!!! I mentioned it to my DH and he's stopping on his way home from work in the AM to get some LOL!!! He's so sick of it. He's actually driving me more crazy about it than the hair itself LOL!!!

Have you tried using rubber gloves (like the kind you use to do dishes) instead of a pet hair roller? You can even buy the really cheapey ones. It shouldn't make a difference. Don't ask me how it works but it does and it's a lot less hassle than constantly having to peel off used tape!

Cheers,

Welcome to the board Valarie! I have the same problem, but my dog seems to be worse than the cats!LOL I would try the brand name dryer sheets, the rubber gloves and daily brushings. You can also try feeding a premium cat food (if you aren't already). This might help keep some of it down also.

Good luck!
