possible new kitten- need advice!

I trapped a kitten tonight! We've been feeding her for a couple of months, along w/ her mother, who is very wild. We think this was her only surviving kitten. Anyway, we brought her home, put gloves on to handle her, and placed a towel and food and water in a pet taxi, and put her in it. She is very calm- she never made a sound when trapped and never thrashed around in the cage. I think she is approx. 9 wks. old. She did hiss at us a little bit, but for the most part we were able to hold her, pet her, and talk to her to calm her down. She did hiss at us- is this normal? I am hoping she won't be wild. She is definitely calmer than most of the cats we have trapped. We had some wild ones! We're taking her to the vet tomorrow, and hoping she will be healthy. She may have worms, and I know she has fleas and some ear mites. She is so precious- white with blue eyes, and an orange tabby-like tail and ears. Very cute.

There is also the dilemma of introducing her to my 3 year old, and very spoiled, cat. She is used to having 100% of my attention, and I'm wondering how she'll deal w/ the new arrival. She walked around her cage tonight, and hissed, and sniffed at her, but I'm hoping she won't hurt her.

Any advice would be appreciated- do you think we caught her in time, so she won't be wild? Thanks!

I trapped one young kitten and brought him home, let him out in the living room and he acted like he was born here. Another kitten I trapped was older. I let her have free run of my bedroom and bathroom. Had her litter box and food in there. She was wilder. Stayed under my bed and in the closet for 14 days. She is tame now, but a inside cat only. She is 2 yrs. old now, she would not do good outside. I can hold her on the porch but the least thing that she doesn't like outside makes her start hissing. Your other cat will get use to the kitten. Give it a week or so. donna

Yeah! The kitten is great. She is loving and so calm. We took her to the vet today. She tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and she got all of her shots. She does have round worm (?) and we're starting her wormer next week. We gave her a flea bath and she is so clean and flea-free. She is so precious! We've started introducing her to our resident cat, and they are both hissing. I hope it's going to work out!

OK- I need serious trapping advice. I have to trap her mother ASAP. She is pregnant again, and needs to be fixed, etc. I've tried trapping her 4 times, and she sniffs the cage, goes part of the way in, and backs out. I don't know if she is just smart and has the cage figured out, or if I'm doing something wrong. Should I put a really smelly fish food in the cage? If so, what? I've just been using regular canned cat food. What else can I do? She is in a public place, and I can't leave the cage b/c I'm afraid someone will steal her. She lives in rocks and she is hard to get to as it is. I need any and all suggestions to really trap her this time! I don't want her to have her 5th litter of kittens. help!
