I am so happy Misha is eating more & drinking more too! It's definitely an improvement over the past 48 hours. Maybe it's the liquid medicine I'm giving her? I took her to the vets again today but she was so busy I didn't get to talk to her. Her assistant weighed her & she's back up to 6.3 lb...yeah! Her temp was normal & she got some more injectable fluids as a precaution. Now she's back home snoozing away. She had some diarrhea, but that's probably due to all the antibiotics she's on. I hope she gets better over the weekend so maybe I can FINALLY let her out of isolation. (Thomie keeps crying at the door....she want to meet her new sister!) I have to keep wiping the goop from her eyes. I guess that's drainage from her URI. She's "talking" more today, which is a good sign. I told her you are all asking about her & are praying & sending hugs, kisses, etc. She purred at that!

I have housework to do now....oh joy. I will let my furbabies sleep for awhile.

Have a wonderful evening!

Suzy

Yeeeessss! That's wonderful news Suzy. You did an excellent job of helping her get over that nasty bug and nursing her back to health.

ohh suzy i'm so happy! i didn't know that misha is finally drinking! that's so important for cats to drink water i was getting soo worried! it makes me smile to know that everything is looking up. now hopefully her cold will go away and misha can finally be introduced. its a good thing that you kept her isolated because she could have infected your other cats. btw, to refresh my memory, when you got misha, was she sick or did it develop suddenly?

~pink~

p.s. daisy says "meow meow meow meow" translation: "feel better soon misha!!!"

Thank you Leslie :-) I just got her liquid medicine down & am giving her a breather until I try the antibiotic pill. I am thrilled that she's eating/drinking near normal amounts and is more alert & active. She still has congestion which I can hear when she breathes & she's still sneezing/coughing some, but it is better than before. I am glad I have the weekend to spend with her.

I try to reassure the other cats & give them attention too since they are wondering about this new cat and why they can't go in her room. Boots & Thomie enjoyed looking out at our bird feeder today since there were so many beautiful birds there with the sunny, mild weather.

How's Trouble doing this evening?

Thanks again for your prayers. I will keep you all posted :-)

Thank you so much Pink! Little Misha started drinking more Wednesday evening after she'd been at the vets for injectable fluids & a shot of an inti-inflamatory steroid type drug to bring down the swelling of her lymph nodes & to help reduce her congestion. She thought that would make her want to drink more. Later in the evening she did. :-) I am continuing to give her liquid (beef flavor) prednisolone (anti-inflamatory) medicine through the weekend to ensure she'll continue eating/drinking. Then I need to stop giving it because there's a risk of it compromising her immune system...which I definitely don't want. She's on her Baytril antibiotic pills for an additional 7 days (it will have been about 17 days total that I've given those pills to her). Wish I could feed her yogurt to give her some healthy "acidophilus" to protect the healthy bacteria in her system which is sometimes harmed by so many antibiotics. She doesn't seem interested in eating anything other than her Science Diet dry food, though.

Misha didn't appear to be sick when I first brought her home. (The URI she got from the Humane Society was still in incubation). It was about 1-2 days later that the sneezing started & then she got real sick after that. I loved her the moment I first saw her , and so I was horrified when one of my co-workers said I should "exchange" her (as if she's merchandise) and then she even went so far to say that " if the Humane Society didn't want the expense of treating a sick cat, that they should have put her to sleep". I told her I wouldn't dream of giving her up and that I am more than happy to take care of her. I am so grateful I had the chance to adopt her since I'm not sure other people would have given her the love she needed. She has the sweetest personality. (Sorry I rambled so much....I hadn't told anyone about what that woman had said & it really bothered me). Some people don't understand that we love our furkids equally in sickness & in health. (Just like you would human children).

Misha was very happy to receive Daisy's message and she replied, "meow, meeeooow, meow!" "Thank you Daisy!" :-)

Hugs,

Suzy
