I feel guilty...

I just rescued a new kitten (9 wks.) and we've had her for a few days. Our other cat, my precious spoiled baby, has lived here for about four years. She's been around the kitten, but is still warming up to her ( but hissing and spitting). Trouble is- I feel SO guilty that I have a new kitten. I try to give my cat tons of love and attention, but I feel bad b/c I don't want her to feel left out or feel neglected. I've never really faced this problem before. Is this normal? I just feel so guilty. I want to welcome and love the new kitten, but at the same time not make my cat mad at me. I know that all sounds silly, but I have such a close bond w/ my cat that it's hard. Thanks for listening!

I think that's totally normal. Don't feel bad. You have enough love in your heart for both cats :-) Just be sure to give special quality time to your 4 year old baby and that should reassure her. I am going through the same thing introducing a new cat in my home where the other 3 cats had been. They are 6 1/2 years old and grew up together. This will be a transition, but I try to take time out to spend with all of them so they won't feel neglected. I'm sure the hissing will be over soon & they'll be the best of friends.

Keep us posted! >^..^<

I think it is normal, but you have to remember, that you do have enough love for both of them!

That's a normal concern.
