Sunday with my Misha...

I was worried about giving Misha that anti-inflamatory steroidal medication which suppresses the immune system more that 3 days (Wed - Fri), so the vet said I didn't have to give it to her anymore. She thankfully is still eating & drinking, but not quite as much as when she took that medicine. The awful part was that last night she was terribly congested & I could hear each breath she took. It worried me this morning....she started to get a temp again over 104. I ended up calling the vet at home (which I didn't want to do but felt it was necessary). She said it's correct to continue not giving the steroidal medicine (as long as she keeps eating), and that I could just give her the decongestant nasal drops & a baby aspirin to help with congestion & fever. I don't know how much it's helped since I still hear all the gunk in her nose and see the stuff in her little eyes. The vet said this is just a nasty virus that'll take time to beat. It's so hard to see her have her ups & downs. I have 7 more days of antibiotic to give her and I hope by then she will be better. I have let her look out the window at the bird feeder as a distraction since I know she would love to get out of her room and investigate the rest of the house. I definitely don't want her getting her necessary shots until her immune system is strong again.
Thanks again for listening & praying. I may take her into the vets again tomorrow for more fluids if she doesn't drink enough.
Have a good night!

Poor Misha is going through a rough time.
I just gave her her nightly antibiotic pill. I did make sure to give her the Bayer baby aspirin (coated so it would go down easy & be easy on her tummy). It's always good to mention that Tylenol should never be given to cats in case someone else reads this post who may not know. :-)
Lots of purrs & snuggles from Misha to you & your Misha & Sammy!
Thanks so much for everything!
Suzy
Poor Misha just can't seem to shake that bug, poor girl.
You are right...my vet is wonderful. She told me not to take her to the hospital today...she said they'd cost a fortune and not do anything much for her. She said I can bring her by anytime this week without calling first. She hardly ever charges me for anything when I bring Misha by. I used to think she charged too much (for instance whenever our other cats needed their teeth cleaned, it cost over $200). Now I will never question her prices again. She really came through for us during this difficult time. I think she really appreciates that I care so much for a cat from the Humane Society, when others may not have. I figure when I adopted my Misha it was for life. It is totally unconditional love in sickness & in health. You should have seen her yesterday when she was snuggled up to me while we took a nap together! (Wish I'd had a camera!) Aren't our furbabies wonderful? :-)
Have a great night,
Suzy
I was worried it was some weird rebound from not taking the steroids, but I now think it's just a stubborn virus that's got her stopped up and the anti-inflammatory just temporarily improved the symptoms. The nebulizer sounds like a good idea if she continues to have difficulty breathing.
I am thinking it's ok to have her get the injectable fluids 3 times a week since she probably isn't drinking enough to stay fully hydrated during all this. Poor thing probably feels like a pincushion.
I can't wait for the day she can sit on our bed with her 3 sisters and snuggle or watch Animal Planet. LOL Boots loves to clean & groom her other sisters so hopefully she'll do the same for Misha.
I hope you & all your furbabies are having a wonderful evening! :-)
