I think Asher is sick...

Earlier this evening near Asher's litterbox I saw a brownish liquid. I thought maybe he threw up and just cleaned it up. Then about 10 minutes later I was in the kitchen and Asher went up to his litter box, turned around, and went to the bathroom on the floor right next to his litter box. It was extremely watery with a brownish color to it. I couldn't tell if it was urine or poop due to the consistency, but I'm pretty sure that it is diarrhea. Everything else about him is normal...he's eating normal, drinking normal, playing normal, etc. He's never gone to the bathroom outside of the litter box before and I have never seen his stools like this. What could be wrong? It seems like these things always happen during the weekend!

Thanks!

I'm sorry Asher isn't feeling well. Did he eat something out of the ordinary lately? It could also be the kitty cold that's going around. I would suggest you call your vet Friday and get his/her advice. Asher may need to be seen to find out for sure what's causing the problem. It's a good sign he is eating & drinking normally. Make sure he continues to do so. Please let us know what the vet says.

It could be that Asher got into something he shouldn't have. I would keep a close eye on him and see what happens. If he is still eating and drinking, he may just have a upset tummy, but if it continues or he stops eating and drinking get him in right away.

Asher went to the bathroom on the floor once more last night and that was it. He hasn't done it again. He is still eating well and acting well etc. I haven't noticed him go to the bathroom at all since last night. Should that be something to worry about? I'm keeping a close eye on him and if he is not better by Monday I'll take him to the vet. I think he must have just eaten something that didn't agree with his stomach, but I don't know what it could be. Maybe some sort of bug...I've seem him eat bugs before although I try to get them away from him before he does. Sometimes that's easier said than done!

Sometimes these things happen. I would at least take a stool sample to the vets, to be tested for worms. It shouldn't cost you as much as a vet visit. donna
