We discussed her shots. They gave her the second URI/Distemper shot (she had the first one at the humane society over a month ago). The vet said it would be easier on her immune system if we give the other shots a week apart. She gave me info on the leukemia one to consider. She said it's unlikely anything will ever happen if Misha doesn't get the shot, but our other 3 have had it (according to the vet....I didn't know that) with no problems. She said she had known one cat who tested negative but had kittens that were all positive & died. They realized the cancer was in the bones and she was shedding the virus to other cats even though she was just a "carrier". Other cats in this cat's home have since died. This is the reason the vet said it's good to have the leukemia shot in multiple cat homes where you never know if one cat might be a carrier. She said the decision is mine and to think about it. She said she only uses shots without adjuvants. (These are what are known to possibly cause injection site sarcomas). She feels it would not cause a problem, but she will let me make the decision. I am still undecided. Misha will also need her rabies shot. I am getting her shots in one week intervals so her immune system doesn't have to deal with them all at once.
Thomie's eyes are looking better. I will continue giving her the eye drops until Monday.
Thanks again for listening & for your thoughts & prayers for my furbabies!
Hugs,
Suzy

Suzy, your Misha has come a long way since a few weeks ago.
I am so happy to see Misha full of energy and finally running and playing. She couldn't do any of that for the first 3 weeks. She still hasn't quite won over her sisters yet, but I have a feeling it won't be too long. I love weekends when I can spend quality time with all the furbabies. :-)
I look forward to the day when her lymph nodes are back to normal and her congestion is totally gone.
Lots of purrs & leg rubs from Misha >^..^<
Have a great evening with your entertaining felines!

It is so good to hear the Misha is on the mend!
That's wonderful news Suzy.
Last night I tried putting the warm, wet washcloth on Misha's scab to hopefully stimulate her hair follicles, and she just growled. She didn't try to bite or scratch, but she made it known she didn't like being held down for (a very long) 10 minutes. LOL Little does she know I'll be doing that again for every night for the next week!
I am going to get a very special Thank You card, flowers, and donate some money to a cat charity for my vet. She is such a very caring person who really loves cats.
I hope your Misha & Misty are having a good day. My favorite scene from the movie Cats and Dogs is where the Russian Blue comes in the house and corners the beagle and says "I think not baby puppy, I think it is YOU who is in trouble!" LOL You must enjoy having such smart, beautiful kitties such as these!
Hugs,
Suzy
I sure will be glad when all the medicating is over. LOL I'd just like to only have to worry about cleaning litter boxes and giving the girls their playtime.
The vet said it wouldn't be so bad if she had long hair...since then you could do a comb-over LOL!! In Misha's case, with short dark hair , and pale skin, a bald patch would be pretty obvious. I hope the warm compress treatments help.
Thomie's eyes look better every day. The drops must have been just what she needed.
Misha is sneezing a lot today. I hope she can't catch anything from the immunization she had yesterday. I hope her immune system is getting back to normal.
Have a great evening!
Suzy
We sure do need a brake...giggle! I must admit I am very happy to see her running around and acting like a normal young kitty! It's very rewarding having helped such a sweet natured girl like her to have a new, happy life. :-)
I tried giving attention to Boots & Patches (the so far healthy ones) today so they don't feel too jealous. Boots loves when I let her out on the deck (supervised constantly) to sniff the breeze and watch the birds overhead.
Hope you're having a good weekend!
Hugs,
Suzy
So glad to hear that Misha is gaining weight and staying healthy!
From what I've heard, the FeLV vaccine doesn't always 100% help a cat avoid getting the disease, but I think it is definitely a good thing to do if you know your cat isn't already sick with the disease and if they live in a mult-cat household. Mine get it every year, and usually once a cat is adult age, they probably won't contract it anyway. I had two babies die of it last year and I was very worried about my other two. So far so good everyone is fine. I will be having my one cat tested again in Sept when she goes for her yearly.
So glad everything is returning back to normal for you!
