I desperately need advice about boarding

Hi!

I have a kitten that is apx 4 months old. He is the son of a stray cat that adopted us. She is definitely an outdoor cat but we are keeping the kitten inside which leads me to my next question. We are going away for about 5-6 days. With our cats in the past, we have been able to leave them plenty of food and water and a clean litter box and they have been fine for about 3 days at a time. So this time, I am getting my parents to come after about 2-3 days and check on the little guy and replenish his supplies..

I am sure by this time you are wondering what the problem is. Well, this kitten is VERY social. I am very worried about how he will react to being by himself for 2 days.

I am boarding my dogs at a kennel and have contemplated boarding the kitten too however, I don't think he will like the cage very much. I will add here that my DH will not consider a pet sitter. He is funny about people that we don't know coming into our house.

So I wondered what the best thing is to do. Anyone with similar experience in the past?

TIA for any help/advice.

I think your parents can spend a little time with the kitten, leave plenty of toys out, maybe a new cardboard box for the kitten to explore. Or have a friend come by. The vet/cage would be very scary, and hearing the dogs barking ect... not to mention the possibility of the kitten catching something. donna

Thanks for the advice guys! I have talked my parents into coming one more day and I have already gone out to Petsmart for some more toys. I think I will probably be more upset over this than he will!

Thanks again!
