Soft Paws

Hello all! I'm going to be getting a new kitten soon, and I really want to try to use Soft Paws. I've read the testimonials on the soft paws web site, but I'd rather hear from "real people" who've had positive (or negative!) experiences with them.
How hard are they to get a cat used to? The web site says a cat may lick her paws and remove them quickly until she's used to having them on... do I need to take a few days off work to monitor how she's coping with them? Or, if I start on a Saturday, will the two weekend days be enough to make sure she's adjusting?
Thanks in advance for any input you can offer!

Hi Smedley12.
I'm not sure about the kitten I'm going to be getting, since I've just started the process of looking. I have a new apartment with nice woodwork trim, and have not had a pet there yet. When my old kitty was alive, she destroyed the wood trim in our old apartment with her claws. (I could never get her to use a scratching post!) I asked my new landlord about a cat, and she gave me the OK if I declawed. I convinced her to allow me to get one without having to declaw, using softpaws instead. But I need to make sure(before I get a new kitty) that the softpaws option will work, or my landlord will kill me.
As far as the scratching post issue, I just use a little catnip whenever mine seem to not be using them as much, and it renews their interest. It doesn't do much for tiny kittens, but works great when they're a little older. I have six cats ranging in age from 1 year to 14 years, and my furniture is not destroyed, but the scratching posts are!
Good luck with the kitten, and good for you for not declawing!!!
