cat to use a litter pan. She is a 6 mo old that has been neutered and declawed 8 days ago. The vet had me use Yesterday's News cat litter which stinks even to me. The cat refuses to use the box. I had her in a pretty large room, now I've confined her to the bathroom. Today I put Tidy Cat in the box with the Yesterday's news so I'm hoping that the cat will decide to use it. The cat has not pooped in two days now and I know that she needs to go. She eats very well. I, though have gotten her to purr and for her to allow me to hold her and pet her.

What can I do? Is there something that I could purchase that might draw her to the cat pan to use it?

It's been long enough where you can use regular litter without the yesterday's new in it.

Cats, even ferals pretty well know to use a litter box, all of mine have. I think she has just gone through so much, esp. the de-clawing, and needs time to adjust to everything and she probally feels rotten. donna

Hi Rhodasmom! I agree that she probably is still getting over the declawing. Seems like I read somewhere that when a cat was declawed to put shredded newspaper in the litter box for a few days. I'm sure that would be messy but it might be softer for her to scratch. Just a thought! Good Luck!

Confining her to the smaller room may help.
