Hello all Since June I have found (or they found me) 8 cats in total. I have taken them to the vet had them spayed/neutered (at my expense) and luckily for me found homes for all except one so I kept her.
Well my problem is this I live in Michigan (very cold) and last night from 5 pm to 3 am a stray kitty was out crying. First I should tell you that I feed about 6 ferals. I cant get any where near them so it isnt as hard. However, this new kitty will get up on my lap and I can hold her. She is between 6 months to one year. We only have one no-kill shelter and the waiting list to get an animal there is over 6 months. Our animal shelter only keeps kitties for 4 days. I live in an apartment. I have two resident cats and one stray that I took in that is separated in my spare bedroom. So I do not have anywhere to keep her. I tried to coax her in the apartment complex hallway. She is very timid and unsure. What should I do. I feel helpless. I cant just ignore her. PLEASE help with some suggestions. It is just breaking my heart. Thank you Cherie

Hi Cherie.
Bless you for taking care of so many of our animal companions. I wish the world were full of people like you.
I know your heart must be breaking for this kitty but several great suggestions have been made. I would second the idea of calling your local vets, see if anyone you know might be willing to foster her, or try to put her inside. The cats should get along and if not, do consider putting her in a crate in the bathroom until you can find a foster home for her. Might it be possible to spay her and then put an ad in the paper for a free kitten to a good home? That might work. I'll keep thinking and if I come up with something brilliant, I will definitely let you know.
Good luck and keep us posted!
