Apollo and Andromeda updates

Apollo and Andromeda went to the vet at today. Andromeda was throwing up last night again too. Several things so far today…

  1. Both received an antibiotic injection this morning.

  2. Apollo’s results of his FIP test came in. Negative. Though it COULD be a false negative, but I feel more at ease on that one for now.

  3. Andromeda has diarrhea at the vet’s office this morning.

  4. Possibilities on Andromeda’s “1/2 golf ball swelling”:

    1. ernia

    2. Infection

    3. ?

Now that the FIP test is in it is likely the vet would have or is about to do an xray on Andromeda’s abdomen. e said if it is liquid or infected there is a good chance it will show this on the x-ray due to clarity of the area.

  1. We are still at a loss on Apollo since he shows no sign of infection and his back area where the neutering was done is perfect. e also shows no sign of pain there, where Andromeda does show it on the swelling area.

  2. Both are still running a fever, though Apollo’s is higher (about 103.5).

So Donna and I will be going to the vet’s office at to consult with him and bring Andromeda and Apollo home for the night. I’ll post more news as I have some…

Ellie showed no sign of inf. on the Xray! I would demand full blown antibiotics just in case!

He had already arranged to have another injection for both in the morning. I will take them in. Their fevers have come down to NEAR normal now. Andromeda had diarrhea again at the vets and some blood came out with it (small amount, a few streaks and it was red, not dark from stomach or small intestine). After she has 1 normal poop.

Both were a bit hyper at the vets and we picked them up and got home at 7pm. Right away Andromeda puked again and both still refuse to eat. Food wise they are losing a lot and have not had a meal (more than 5-10% of one) since Christmas day.

X-rays on Apollo showed normal this afternoon too. For now they will be isolated from the other cats here and continue daily visits to the vet and go on antibiotics. The vet still won’t rule out FIP and aside from that possibility is baffled. The kittens are not well and the vets (there are 3 at out clinic, but we use one) are at a loss and are consulting with others now. No one can figure it out so far, and they cannot keep going on not eating and puking.

I'm so glad that their fevers are down. I agree they can't go on not eating.
